🍂 Group Hangout Ideas for Every Season

By the We-Collided team · Updated October 2026 · 2 min read

Getting a group together is easier when the plan fits the season. Here are ideas for every time of year, plus tips for actually getting everyone in the same place.

Spring

  • Park picnic and games. Bring a speaker, frisbee and snacks.
  • Plant something together. A community garden plot, window boxes or a herb garden.
  • Spring cleaning swap. Bring things you don't want and trade.
  • Kite day. Windy spring afternoons are perfect.
  • Bike trail ride followed by lunch.
  • Outdoor yoga using a free video.

Summer

  • Lake or pool day. Bring floats, snacks and sunscreen.
  • Cookout. Everyone brings one thing for the grill.
  • Outdoor movie night. A projector and a white sheet in the backyard.
  • Free summer concerts in the park.
  • Night swim or sunset kayaking where it's allowed.
  • Water balloon fight. Never gets old.
  • Road trip to a nearby town you've never explored.

Fall

  • Apple or pumpkin picking at a local farm.
  • Corn maze and hayride.
  • Bonfire night with hot cider and s'mores.
  • Football watch party. Everyone brings a snack for their team.
  • Costume party. Pick a group theme.
  • Friendsgiving. A potluck feast before the holidays.
  • Leaf-peeping hike at peak colors.

Winter

  • Sledding followed by hot chocolate.
  • Holiday cookie decorating.
  • Gift exchange with a small price limit.
  • Ice skating at an outdoor rink.
  • Soup night. Everyone brings a pot of their favorite soup.
  • Game marathon on a snow day.
  • New Year's goals night. Share goals and check back in a year.

How to get the group together

  1. Pick the date before the activity. Offer two options and go with the one most people can do.
  2. Send one clear message with the what, when and where.
  3. Make it repeat. A monthly hangout is easier to keep than a random one.
  4. Don't wait for everyone. If most people can come, go for it.

On We-Collided, a group of three or more can do a group collide when you're together: everyone scans one code and you get a group chat that remembers the day you all met up. It's a fun way to start a new tradition.
